Around 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the state, generating wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage
Residents reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area saw its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations received nearly 600 calls for help across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

During the peak on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both states.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
